- System Requirements
3B Forms is one of the few fully-native Form Building applications on the Force.com (Salesforce) platform. As such, we benefit from the $600m invested annually by Salesforce in their Research & Development efforts in order to provide the world’s most robust yet agile platform.
Salesforce is accessed through a browser – such as any other SaaS system and as such, there are some limitations that apply – for example, you need a modern, up-to-date browser and a semi-decent computer (Lightning UI has much higher system requirements than Salesforce Classic). When we built 3B Forms, we wanted to make sure that the application will be widely available to as much of Salesforce’s customer base as possible, however because we wanted to provide the optimum experience, some older and insecure browsers have not been envisioned to be supported.
We have split System Requirements in 3 categories
- Salesforce Requirements – These are the requirements you must meet in order to run Salesforce. We are sure that you are already meeting and exceeding those requirements if you are on this page. We have split Salesforce requirements in Classic and Lightning UI.
- Form Builder Requirements – This is the actual application that you have installed on your Salesforce Org. There are some much stricter limitations that apply to the Builder than to the Forms – this is due to the need to “live” within salesforce and to provide more complex featureset. The Builder is where you will create and generate the forms which you can then distribute to your customers/employees.
- Form Requirements – Forms are the result of the Form Builder – these are the actual pages you will provide access to to your employees/target audience. We made sure that the built forms will be compatible with a wide number of devices, platforms, browsers and operating systems as well as screen resolutions and sizes. As such Forms should have a much wider scope of devices that can display them.

The following recommendations and requirements apply for all browsers, whether you’re using Salesforce Classic or Lightning Experience.
-
For all browsers, enable JavaScript, cookies, and TLS 1.2. If TLS 1.2 isn’t available, enable TLS 1.1. Browsers that don’t support TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2 won’t be able to access Salesforce after we deactivate TLS 1.0. Deactivation has already occurred in sandbox orgs and concludes with production orgs on July 22, 2017.
- Some features use iframes to work in Lightning Experience, so you must have the appropriate browser security settings for iframes to load correctly. Follow your browser’s instructions to enable working with iframes and third-party cookies. For example: In Internet Explorer, set the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME security setting to Enable or Prompt. In Safari, we recommend changing your privacy settings for cookies to Allow from websites I visit. In Chrome, make sure that Block third-party cookies and site data isn’t selected in the Content settings.
-
The minimum screen resolution required to support all Salesforce features is 1024 x 768. Lower screen resolutions don’t always properly display Salesforce features such as Report Builder and Page Layout Editor.
- For Mac OS users on Apple Safari or Chrome, make sure the system setting Show scroll bars is set to Always.
-
Some third-party browser plug-ins and extensions can interfere with the functionality of Chatter. If you experience malfunctions or inconsistent behavior with Chatter, disable the browser’s plug-ins and extensions and try again.
Some features in Salesforce—and some desktop clients, toolkits, and adapters—have their own browser requirements. For example:
- Internet Explorer is the only supported browser for:
- Standard mail merge (Salesforce Classic)
- Connect Offline
- For the best experience on machines with 8 GB of RAM in the Salesforce Console, use Chrome.
- Considerations for Microsoft Edge
Salesforce supports the latest version of Microsoft Edge for both Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience. However, the Developer Console doesn’t support Microsoft Edge. - Considerations for Microsoft Internet Explorer
If you use Internet Explorer, we recommend using the latest version that Salesforce supports. Apply all Microsoft software updates. Note these restrictions. - Considerations for Apple Safari
If you use Safari, we recommend using the latest version that Salesforce supports. Apply all Apple software updates. - Considerations for Mozilla Firefox
Salesforce makes every effort to test and support the most recent version of Firefox. However, Lightning Experience currently doesn’t support Private Browsing. - Considerations for Google Chrome
If you use Chrome, we recommend using the latest version that Salesforce supports.
Note: These requirements are reported by Salesforce and we are not responsible if they change without notice or are incorrect
Form Builder Requirements
The Form Builder has a slightly different requirements than the Salesforce Requirements since we are using a technology called “Bootstrap” version 3. 3B Forms Form Builder supports the latest, stable releases of all major browsers and platforms. On Windows, we support Microsoft Edge (only the latest version).
Alternative browsers which use the latest version of WebKit, Blink, or Gecko, whether directly or via the platform’s web view API, are not explicitly supported.
WE DO NOT SUPPORT INTERNET EXPLORER
Generally speaking, 3B Forms supports the latest versions of each major platform’s default browsers. Note that proxy browsers (such as Opera Mini, Opera Mobile’s Turbo mode, UC Browser Mini, Amazon Silk) are not supported.
Chrome | Firefox | Safari | Android Browser & WebView | Microsoft Edge | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Android | Supported | Supported | N/A | Android v5.0+ supported | Supported |
iOS | Supported | Supported | Supported | N/A | Supported |
Windows 10 Mobile | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A | Supported |
Similarly, the latest versions of most desktop browsers are supported.
Chrome | Firefox | Internet Explorer | Microsoft Edge | Opera | Safari | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Mac | Supported | Supported | N/A | N/A | Supported | Supported |
Windows | Supported | Supported | N/A | Supported | Supported | Not supported |
Unofficially, Bootstrap & 3B Forms should look and behave well enough in Chromium and Chrome for Linux and Firefox for Linux, though they are not officially supported.
Generated Forms Requirements
Forms have similar support as the 3B Forms Form Builder plus added support for Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer 10+ is supported; IE9 and down is not. Please be aware that some CSS3 properties and HTML5 elements are not fully supported in IE10, and forms may end up looking slightly cooked.
Please do not use Internet Explorer. Discourage every living soul from using this browser.
